Cricket is a game played with bat and ball and played by two teams of eleven players each. Teams are comprised of players with a mixture of abilities, someone who specialize at batting, some at bowling, occasionally and some who excel in both capabilities and one specialist player who acts as a wicket keeper. The game is referred by two umpires. Cricket was originated in England during the 14th century. During the 17th century cricket became a professional sport played in competition and 100 years later it became known around the world. Now cricket is a sport that has been played around the world for more than eight centuries.
The first ever test match was played in Melbourne between Australia and England which Australia won by 45 runs. The first ever test match played by India was at Lords against England in 1932, the Indian team captained by C.K Naidu. Mohammed Nissar bags first five-wicket haul for India. The first ever test match on Indian soil was in 1933 on December 15th in Bombay against MCC. Lala Amarnath earns the distinction of becoming India’s first centurion as he scored 118 against MCC. India’s first Test victory was against England at Chepauk in 1952. India’s fist Test Series win was in the 1952-53 series against Pakistan, Lala Amarnath at the age of 40 leads India to a 2-1 series win against Pakistan.
